Abstract: Electromagnetic bioinformation is based on the physical laws of electrodynamics and on the physical "General systems theory", which has been developed in physiology, but which reaches far beyond it. This "General systems theory" includes physical thermodynamics as well as Information theory, which disregards physics and to which the theory of dynamic systems can be attributed. The following article, which is mainly intended for biologists and physicians, is divided into three parts: an introductory part, which presents examples for electromagnetic bioinformation in biophysics and medicine; a conceptive part, which mainly deals with the theory of dynamic systems, where basic terms (phase space, attractor, chaos etc.) and nonlinear methods (attractor reconstruction, recurrence plot etc.) have been developed and finally an application oriented part, which demonstrates the relevance of nonlinear methods for a continuing understanding of electromagnetic bioinformation.
