Abstract: Basic research is the interdisciplinary dialogue of sciences. lt analyses the formal and substantial structure of knowledge aiming at quality and orientation. The categorical distinction between theory and practice, between recognition and experience leads us to construct closed and abstract models which are parallel to reality. The epistemological review clarifies the relationship between knowledge, interest, and influence.Our pragmatic approach starts from concrete problems. Methodological examination shows the contrasting categories of linearity and complexe non-linearity opening new aspects of science. Governmental support of research can be misused and should be therefore avoided because it infringes liberty, pluralism, and competition of sciences.
