The establishment and management of corporate intranets

Abstract: Corporate intranets are being deployed at an increasing rate as organizations seek to harness the potential of internet technologies for the sharing of information and the facilitation of collaboration, However, the management of the development process cannot be ignored. If left unrestricted and unsupported in the hands of end-users, the result may echo what happened to client-server. This paper presents an approach to actively managing intranet development by recognizing and treating it as an extension of end-user computing.
