Abstract: Gresham and MacMillan's (1997) article contains numerous misunderstandings about the UCLA Young Autism Project (Lovaas, 1987) and, more generally, about early intervention for children with autism. Thus, it hinders parents and professionals from selecting appropriate services for these children. We identify the misunderstandings in the article and describe recent work on replicating and disseminating the UCLA Project.
