Jungian archetypes in GIM therapy: Approaching the client's fairytale

Abstract: In a single session of therapy working with GIM, client material exhibited classical archetypal imagery. Interpreted from a Jungian point of view, in terms of the fairytale "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves", a client's imagery is explored and discussed. At key points in the client's imagery, there were adaptations of the original fairytale. These changes are shown to be related to the client's therapeutic process. The author asserts that an understanding of archetypal material in form of fairy tales is valuable for both the client and the therapist in understanding and interpreting the imagery process as it may occur in GIM.
