Response to Dr. Gordon Parker's paper: An epidemiological perspective |
Journal/Book: J Pers Disord. 1997; 11: 72 Spring Street, New York, NY 10012. Guilford Publications Inc. 375-380.
Abstract: This article is a response to Gordon Parker's ''Etiology of Personality Disorders: A Review and Consideration of Research Models.'' His proposal of a three-component model of personality is considered. The utility of epidemiological methods to investigate personality is outlined, and studies supporting a dimensional model of personality with no evidence of a threshold for disorder are described.
