The relation of psychology to empiricism: Philosophical remarks on Jochen Brandtstadter's position |
Journal/Book: Z Sozpsychol. 1997; 28: Langgass-Strasse 76, CH-3000 Bern 9, Switzerland. Verlag Hans Huber. 229-240.
Abstract: The paper discusses Jochen Brandtstadter's theses about the relation of psychology to empiricism. First, the relevant distinctions of Leibniz and Kant are recapitulated, and then applied to a sharper articulation of the concept of a structural implication. Using Thomas Kuhn's theory of empirical concepts, it is finally shown that the contrast between structural implications and empirical statements is even more delicate than Brandtstadter assumes.
