Dirty protests: A phenomenological assessment

Abstract: The use of faecal material as a means to effect a personal protest appears to be a behaviour restricted to prison establishments. Over the last decade, this form of protest appears to be diminishing. Dirty protests are described, and possible aetiologies explored.
