Abstract: 100 young subjects with sickle cell disease were screened for hearing loss at the Sickle Cell Clinic at Arkansas Children's Hospital. 12% of the sample failed, which is higher than prevalence rates for the age groups suggest. Routine screening of hearing is suggested as the first step in the audiologic rehabilitation process.
