Understanding the therapeutic relationship

Abstract: This article provides a context for and highlights the clinical and research developments over the past year about the therapeutic relationship, with a primary focus on the individual adult psychotherapy literature in the areas of the alliance, transference, and attachment. Areas for future research are suggested.
