COSHH and CHIPS: ensuring the safety of aromatherapy |
Author(s):
Abstract: Some employers are developing policy statements with regard to complementary therapies. While some have addressed the implications of aromatherapy, the use of essential oils and approaches to safety often appear to be overlooked. The authors suggest that little attention has been given to this matter within the context of The Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and The Chemical (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) (CHIPS) regulations, and that this could place employers and therapists in a vulnerable position if not demonstrating appropriate safety risk assessment.
