Zur Behandlung von Magersucht und Bulimia nervosa

Abstract: For the closely related eating disorders anorexia and bulimia nervosa (BN), randomised controlled trials have shown that only those treatments are effective which focus on healthy eating habits and - in the case of anorexia nervosa (AN) - weight restoration at the beginning of therapy. There is only one exception to this rule, namely focused interpersonal psychotherapy for BN. lt seems as effective as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) in the long run but does not work as quickly as the standard treatment with CBT. In Patient treatment is mandatory only if physical state or suicidality are life-threatening. In BN, massive psychiatric co-morbidity, particularly problems with impulse control can be an indication for in-patient treatment. In the out-patient treatment of BN, the use of a self-care manual can reduce the necessary amount of therapist time by 50- 1 00 %.
