Ist Arthrose heilbar? Untersuchungen zur Frage spontaner Heilungsprozesse bei arthrotischen Erkrankungen |
Abstract: According to own observations and observations presented in literature concerning genuine and experimental arthroses in animals, sometimes efficient, obviously spontaneous repairing or regenerating processes can occur, as it is the case with degenerative joint diseases in man.The mostly fibrocartilaginous "regenerates", which partly also consist of hyaline cartilage and which mainly start from the synovium at the edge of the joint, partly lead to a reappearance of a vanished joint cavity in the x-ray picture. The support function of intact menisci as well as the formation of osteophytes can be of help in this case, when they widen the load-bearing joint area and thus prevent the formation of subluxations. The correction of malpositions, if it can be carried out, as well as the avoidance of static and motoric overstrain of the respective joints is also very important. This is accompanied as an initial aid for spontaneous repairing processes by an adequate physiotherapy and an adequate nutrition, together with the administration of pain and inflammation inhibiting drugs without catabolic properties, if this should be necessary.
