Abstract: Rudolf Bauer Institut für Pharmazeutische Biologie der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf Zusammenfassung Die Beurteilung von echinaceahaltigen Arzneipräparaten beginnt mit einer klaren Definition der eingesetzten Zubereitung da derzeit drei verschiedene Stammpflanzen (Echinacea purpurea E. pallida und E. angustifolia) unterschiedliche Pflanzenteile (Wurzeln oberirdische Teile und Ganzpflanze) sowie verschiedene Extraktions bzw. Zubereitungsweisen eingesetzt werden. Für den Preßsaft der oberirdischen Teile von E. purpurea sowie für die alkoholischen Extrakte aus den Wurzeln von Echinacea pallida E. angustifolia und E. purpurea wurden in vitro und in vivo signifikante pharmakologische Wirkungen nachgewiesen die einen Einfluß in erster Linie auf das unspezifische zelluläre Immunsystem erkennen lassen. Als Wirksubstanzen sind mehrere Verbindungsklassen in der Diskussion: Polysaccharide Glykoproteine Kaffeesäurederivate (Cichoriensäure) und Alkamide. Abstract Echinacea containing drugs: effects and active constituents Echinacea-containing drugs have to be classified according to the used plant species (Echinacea purpurea E. pallida or E. angustifoliaJ the processed part of the plant (roots upper parts or whole plant) and the mode of processing. Significant pharmacological effects have been found in vitro and in vivo for the expressed juice of the upper parts of E. purpurea and for alcoholic extracts of the roots of E. pallida E. angustifolia and E. purpurea. The activity is mainly directed towards the nonspecific cellular immune system.
