Abstract: While extensive research has examined the use of pre-treatment assessment data in the development of effective intervention strategies for persons with intellectual disabilities, little research to date has addressed the use of such strategies for individuals with brain injuries. We used a descriptive analysis to identify maintaining variables and potential intervention strategies furan adult who exhibited verbal abuse following acquired brain injury, An antecedent intervention strategy that involved increasing the predictability of therapeutic interactions was developed based on the assessment data. A physiotherapist and an occupational therapist were trained to implement the intervention. Results indicated a significant decrease in the verbal abuse of the client. The use of pretreatment assessments for developing individualised intervention strategies for individuals with brain injuries was discussed.
