Treatment outcome measures: Nomothetic or idiographic?

Abstract: One possible effect of managed health care may be the increased use of nomothetic outcome measurer, that ii, outcome measures that are utilized across clients, regardless of diagnosis or identified treatment goals. It is argued here that such measures should be supplemented by outcome measures that are idiographic to particular diagnostic categories and/or to particular clients.
