Abstract: Departing from a scenic example of an emotional experience - the weddingday of a young American bride - the perspectives of the emotion sociologists are demonstrated. How is an emotion defined by society, how central should the emotion be in the live of the individual and how is the interactive background of the implanation of this emotion in that society. Again departing from the paradoxes of the expectancy vis a vis the emotion ''love'', mechanisms conscious and unconscious are discussed how to handle the contradictions and which role psychotherapy might have to understand the unconscious parts of the emotion rules in order to decide whether to except them or not.
