Abstract: If we explore musical terms, as derived from the term Mousikè in the ancient Greece, these terms include aspects as movement, temporal processes, dynamics, play and joint activity in an inseparable unity. Regarding the orchestra metaphor model of communication, we could indeed ask if the model actually consists of metaphoric terms, or if the terms reflect the nature of prelinguistic interaction or core characteristics in basic forms of togetherness. With focus on the temporal structure and regulation of interaction on a micro-level, the authors will discuss the significance of regulation of timing, tempo and rhythmicity in order to make an improvisatory entry to sustained interaction with the child with dual sensory impairment. Do these regulation principles represent core-concepts in basic togetherness regardless of sensory modality, and how may these principles be applied in order to develop observation categories for precise analyses and strategic intervention? The article will shed light upon the application of interaction theories in the field of music therapy.
