Abstract: As part of a project designed to assist teachers of deaf children and young people to improve and broaden their use of video technology, a questionnaire was distributed amongst Heads of Hearing Impaired Services and Schools in the UK at their conference (NCHHISS). The ultimate broad aim of the questionnaire was To identify services and individuals who were able and willing to share helpful information about their experiences with using video, as speakers at a one-day conference in July, 1996. Specifically, questions included in the questionnaire focused an the range of functions which video might perform within services and schools, what constraints teachers were experiencing in developing these functions and what further resources and support teachers felt would be of most value to them. The results suggest that video technology is bring used widely for a variety of functions but in many cases, higher levels of resource and support are needed for it to be used to its full potential.
