Abstract: Cannabis use is common among adolescents and has recently been increasing, especially among young teenagers. Whether the reduction of cannabis in chronic heavy users results in a clinically significant withdrawal syndrome is controversial. This article presents three case vignettes supporting the view that chronic cannabis use by adolescents may result in a clinically significant withdrawal syndrome and that the associated physiological symptoms directly contribute to the persistent use of the substance.
