Health beliefs and compliance with antipsychotic medication

Abstract: The utility of the Health Belief Model to explain compliance with depot neuroleptic medication is examined. Perceived severity, susceptibility and benefits were found to be related to compliance, although costs were not. In addition, insight, knowledge about schizophrenia and health locus of control were not found to be related to compliance.
