Suicidal behaviour in childbearing women |
Journal/Book: Int Rev Psychiatr. 1996; 8: PO Box 25, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England OX14 3UE. Carfax Publ Co. 107-115.
Abstract: Childbearing women have a high rate of psychiatric disorder and a high risk of suicide would therefore be predicted. This review assesses the evidence for a low suicide risk in postnatal and pregnant women, and by implication people of both sexes who have children, a phenomenon first commented on by Durkheim a century ago bur rarely researched since then.
