Prospektive Bewertung der Toxizität hochdosierter VISCUM ALBUM L.- Infusionen bei Patienten mit progredienten Malignomen

Abstract: In a prospective phase III study, 21 cancer patients with progredienttumors and metastases or inoperable primary tumors who did not respondadequately to a subcutaneous application of mistletoe extracts and insome cases radiation/chemotherapy were investigated. All of them weretreated intravenously with high concentrations of mistletoe extracts,intravenously. During an observation period of 152 plus-or-minus sign103 days, a cumulative drug concentration of 2.345 plus-or-minus sign1.742 mg Helixor was achieved, with a highest single dose of 600plus-or-minus sign 424 mg. In all patients, no signs of hepatotoxicity,bephrotoxicity or hematotoxicity were observed. Thus, intravenousapplication of high concentrations of Helixor seems to be harmless inregard to the effects on the bone marrow and parenchymatous organs.
