Hoffnung trotz Wahrheit - der menschliche Umgang mit dem Krebskranken in der Chirurgie |
Abstract: The psychic guidance of the patients is much more complicated in surgery as it is the case in internal medicine. The surgery program, which has to be managed every day causes a distinctive deficit of personal empathic care by the ward physician, from which especially the cancer patient suffers. It is especially him, who needs an intensive psychic medical care. The visit has to be made brief and its motto is "it the healing of a wound works good, means everything is good".The emotional ambivalence tendency of the (potential) cancer patient manifests itself in a state between hope and fear, before the surgery as well as after it and reflects the internal tension of the patient. As a psychologist can not be an equivalent or even a substitute for the psychic care by the ward physician, "psysurgery" constitutes a necessary supplement of the oncological surgery. "Psysurgery" is derived from the Greek language and means "to work with the soul". The ward physician, who does not carry out surgery, the socalled "Psysurgeon" is first of all a constant person of reference and a continuous contact person for the tumor patient and his relatives, so that in every phase of the disease "hope despite truth" is maintained.
