Cordiaspermum halicacabum (L.) -The Ballon-vine

Abstract: During the last years Cardiospermum halicacabum, the ballon-vine from the family of sapindaceae has become known as a remedy for the treatment of itching, eczematous skin diseases due to its antiinflammatory and antipruritic properties. Especially the homeopathic tincture, an alcoholic extract from the fresh flowering plant is used in form of an ointment. This article reviews the investigations carried out so far concerning the constituents and the effects of the plant and its preparations.
