Abstract: The oxygen-carbon dioxide-multistep cure (SKMK) combines the advantages and curative effects of the oxygen-multistep therapy with those of carbon dioxide and heat baths. The highly effective basic principle of the combination of an increase of the offer, uptake and Transport of O2 is realized in the case of the SKMK by the O2 respiration together with the increase of the respiratory volume per minute and the blood flow. Pleasantly warm steam and about 80% CO2 cause an intensification of the pulse by about 30 beats/min and the blood flows and as well as the respiration are significantly increased or multiplied - without (ergometric) burden. The person taking a cure is sitting in a body chamber (head outside), which is especially favorable for elderly persons and persons with an restricted movement. By breathing free, nonheated air or air enriched with 02, the heat acting on the body is felt to be pleasant. With five medicinal baths of this kind, with a duration of 50 min each, it was possible to achieve among others a lasting increase of the arterial oxygen values.
