Abstract: This paper focuses on a practical problem when conducting longitudinal studies. Often, measures used at the beginning of a longitudinal study become antiquated and scales must be re-analyzed. The paper presents a re-analysis of a developmental test battery. Data are part of the Vienna Developmental Study. In 1980/81, the Buhler-Hetzer Scales for the third, fourth, and fifth years of life and six items from the Denver Scales were presented to 44 girls and 50 boys with a mean age of 30.7 months (range: 25 to 38 months) and then 6 months later (mean age of 36.7 months; range: 31 to 44 months).
