Abstract: Studied the effects of classical or popular musical excerpts on the thoughts and values of depressive patients. Human Ss: 39 male and female Dutch young, middle-age, old, and very old adults (aged 30-80 yrs) (major depression, depressive neurosis, bipolar affective disorder, depressive psychosis, anxiety disorders, and personality disorders). Ss listened to 16 musical excerpts twice, 1-1.5 mo apart, and marked the values they were thinking of while listening on a specially created list. Ss, their psychiatrists, and their music therapists were administered a questionnaire on Ss' demographic characteristics. (English abstract)
