Abstract: An impressive array of new hearing instrument technologies is available for children. However, these advanced technologies are insufficient unless they are applied correctly. The purpose of this article is to consider alternative approaches To hearing aid fitting wish infants and young children in light of recent technological developments. Both audiometric-based and electroacoustic-based procedures are described. Furthermore, the relative strengths and limitations of each approach to hearing aid fitting are discussed in terms of their clinical application with children.
