Music, noise, and the human voice in the nurse-patient environment |
Journal/Book: Image J Nurs Sch. 1995; 27: 291-6.
Abstract: Sound is an essential and constant component of the human environment. Nurses have a responsibility to therapeutically manipulate the environment, but some have not fully recognized the significance of noise, voice, or music in the nurse-patient milieu. This literature review provides a starting point for new studies that acknowledge the perception of sound as well as the physiological and psychological effects of sound on patients' well-being.
