Abstract: The nonverbal projective test << Savio P.I.T.T. > > hypothesizes a strong association between the subject's interpretation of musical intervals and interpretation of psychosocial imagos. In order to test the hypothesized associations, 80 subjects were asked to evaluate the 7 intervals of the C major scale on a 20-item bipolar scale using terms from Osgood's Thesaurus. The authors used classical binary analysis and pseudo ternary analysis to test links between intervals, concepts and scale items. Many of Savio's original hypotheses appear to be validated. Some clinical interpretations are given to clarify remaining questions, including responses to consonant or dissonant intervals.
