Abstract: Describes a music therapy program for inpatients with psychotic disorders. The program consisted of 2 1-hr open-group sessions per week and involved active improvisations followed by discussions of the participants' emotional responses. The program's potential influences on the patients' self-perceptions and ego strength are noted, and observations of improved communication are discussed. The potential effects of music therapy for schizophrenic patients are discussed in relation to self-object differentiation. (English abstract)
