Erkrankungen des Gastrointestinaltraktes: Beteiligung von freien Radikalen und adjuvante Therapie mit Antioxidantien |
Journal/Book: Ärztezeitschrift für Naturheilverfahren. 1995; 36/1: 48-55.
Abstract: Disorders of the intestinal ecology as for instance favourably influenced by environmental poisons may have far-reaching cosequences for the entire organism. The poisonous substances may cause a direct damage of the gastro-intestinal tract or may through the blood get into the enterohepatic circulation. The damaging effect is, at least partially, due to the formation of free radicals arising from the metabolization of environmental poisons in the body and exposing the organis, tabolization of environmental poisons in the body and exposing the organism, and that especially the gastro-intestinal tract, to increased oxidative stress. In case of overcharging the intestine with aggressive species of radicals the ripening of antibodies collapses and, thus, the immune defence is reduced. The anti-oxidative protective substances vitamine C, E, ß-carotene and selenium provide good therapeutical support in case of diseases of the gastro-intestinal tract.
