University validation

Abstract: Universities provide the most rigorous route for external validation of colleges of complementary medicine. Their traditional independence and links as far as healthcare education is concerned, with teaching hospitals and the General Medical Council, have in the past inhibited forays into the complementary sector. The new higher education landscape has loosened such traditional constraints, with both opportunities and dangers for aspirant complementary colleges. In general, however, the process of rigorous validation is a positive one for the colleges' development.
