Abstract: Motives are more important than methods so this article will touch on the spirit not the detail of the Glasgow experience, describing and inviting criticism about the underlying perceptions. These multiprofessional postgraduate courses are built on the foundations of: defined limits of competence; appropriate general professional skills; applying the therapy across the generalist-specialist spectrum; and integrating the therapy into general care. They are now the most popular medical courses in the UK.
