Abstract: The development of fascinating modern diagnostic technologies all too frequently cause us to forget the potential of diagnosis based on specific medical history and our own five senses. If one day the electric power should fail, these personal faculties might have atrophied to such an extend that we would surely feel somewhat helpless when faced with a patient requiring diagnosis. A few examples illustrate how help can be provided with a minimum of technical aids employing trained observation and combinatory faculties.
