Untersuchungen zum Einfluß von Nahrungsmittelkomponenten auf Entstehung und Verlauf der Arthrose |
Abstract: Although concrete proposals for a comprehensive diet, which is specifically orientated to the indication of "degenerative joint diseases" have not been formulated yet, it is the intention to give something to start thinking about for a meaningful selection of nutritional components for arthrosis patients. Such a diet should be rather scarce with respect to the amount of the caloric content, except in the case of underweight. This concerns carbohydrates and lipides. In the case of the latter, a diet with highly unsaturated fatty acids but with a lower content of arachidonic acid (e. g. linoleic acid, fish oil) should prevail. Enough proteins must be administered, also in the form of fish and sufficient amounts of mineral substances.A predominantly vegetarian diet contains vital vitamins. In this case possible supplementary administration of the B-complex as well as of vitamins E and C-especially in the case of activated arthrosis - can be useful. In addition, there are other potentially effective components (e.g. flavonoids but also inorganic compounds) in vegetables and herbs. However, there is a large backlog demand for checking its chondrotropic, antiinflammatory or analgesic properties.
