Psychosomatik in der Traditionellen Chinesischen Medizin (TCM) |
Journal/Book: Deutsche Zeitschrift für Akupunktur. 1995; 38/1: 4-9.
Abstract: TCM not only recognized but also systematized the connection between the body and soul thousands of years ago. The therapeutic concepts that were developed were for both the treatment of physical illnesses and the soul. The discrete form for taking the case history that was used opens excellent tharapeutic possibilities for cases of psychosomatic disorders with organic manifestations. The main difference to the Western, conventional point of view is that in TCM psychological causes and definite physiological conditions are considered as being of equal importance. In our form of medicine however this is not the case always. A statistical analysis at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute has shown that TCM as a part of acupuncture for psychosomatic conditions is of advantage. Without doubt, TCM is not the only way but a basic knowledge of the rules can help the doctor and the patient in the search for an effective combination of therapy methods.
