Abstract: When Selves Meet Music Arise - Daniel Sterns Self-theory Changes in developmental psychology is important to all treatment methods within the field of psychiatry. During the last decades a developmental psychology based on infant observation and experiments has been formed which challenges old concepts. The model of one of the foremost representatives of this new developmental psychology, Daniel Stern, is presented. The five different senses of selves on which the model is based are introduced, as well as a discussion about what concepts in the psychodynamic psychology that are challenged by it. The connection between aspects of the model and processes in music therapy are pointed to.

Note: Leg. läk. spec. i barn- och ungdomspsykiatri. Med dr. disputerat på en avhandling om familieterapiteori. Har praktiserat inom ett flertal psykoterapeutiska fÂ‰lt (som klassisk psykoanalys, kroppsorienterad psykoterapi, ungdomspsykoterapi ock systeminriktad familjeterapi). Är fn. i slutet av utbildning i Guided Imagery and Music (GIM). Förestår Institutet för utbildning i barn- och ungdomspsykiatri i Stockholm. Har publiserad fem böker i psykologisk/psykoterapuetiska ämnen, samt ett antal artiklar ffa rörande psykoterapi med ungdommar.
