Abstract: Presents the case study of a 17-yr-old boy who had numerous developmental delays and emotional handicaps triggered by, among other things, a history of sexual abuse. His intense connection to music was used to elaborate his fantasies, engage him, and bring about the desired change. The S's internal world of imagination was transformed into an externally shared musical experience; a series of changes were then offered to him, which led to a spontaneity and flexibility in his approach; and he began to experience himself in a new way, through a new musical story. Music therapy thus acted as a potential activator and helped the boy engage creatively with others.
