Using patient biography to promote holistic care

Abstract: The value of patient biographies has become apparent over recent years, especially within the specialty of health care of older people. This paper describes how a nursing assistant built up a relationship with an older man in his ward, who had previously been seen as "difficult", through a shared interest in music, and by getting the patient to tell him his life story.
