Author(s): Vestweber, A.

Abstract: In an open, multicentric phase-IV study (5 trial centres), 49 patients suffering from mild hypertonia (RR diastolic 90-140 mm Hg) were treated over 12 weeks with a homoeopathic complex preparation. The following clinical variables were recorded at intervals of 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 treatment-weeks: blood pressure values, heart rate, respiratory rate as well as subjective feeling of health and profile of' mood swinas (POMS). The homoeopathic preparation was administered in a daily dose of 3 x 30 drops. A total of 41 patients were evaluated. The responder criterion applied to 29 patients (70%), i.e. a lowering of diastolic blood pressure by more than 5 mm Hg. After the 12-week therapy, 16 of these patients (39%) revealed a decrease in diastolic blood pressure by at least 1 0 mm H"" and more. Normotensive blood pressure values were achieved in a total of 21 patients. Treatment was terminated prematurely by 6 patients. Adverse drug effects occurred in only 2 patients (4.8%). This study shows a new therapeutic concept, involving a low incidence of side effects. with a homoeopathic complex preparation for the treatment of mild hypertonia.
