Abstract: Both classic dietetics and the WHO's health-support strategy have shown how individuals and national economies can save enormous sums. This report concerns an interdisciplinary institute (medicine, dietetrics, sports, psychology and sociology) and a model trial involving concrete measures promoting healthy behaviour and a healthy living environment. The factors that influence health-related behaviour are described on the basis of the empirically supported social congition process model developed by R. Schwarzer. Active involvement of the patient in problem analysis and solution-finding is a central factor here.
