Die Effektivität pflanzlicher Prostatamittel am Beispiel von Brennesselwurzelextrakt |

Abstract: The benign hyperplasia of the prostate gland in its initial stage exhibits a favourable response to the use of the extract from the roots of stinging nettles. The therapeutical approach seems to be multifactorial and from the strict scientific point of view requires further clarification. From clinical tests and pharmacological observations result a number of measurable indications for a direct and indirect influence both on the symptomatology due to hyperplasia and on the life quality depending theron and such indications must be taken serious. New preparations derived from the roots of stinging nettles and the qualityof which has been improved as the now available Prostaneurin of the Heumann Company should not be afraid of but rather seek the comparison with other plant and non-plant medicaments in controlled studies. Fundamental research must more convincingly than hitherto qualitatively and quantitatively specify the principles of action that, no doubt, are existing and, thus, meet both the high acceptance and good compliance on the side of the patients for the plant drug and the readiness of the physicians to use it. The therapeutical goal should not be determined by the "drug physician" but must rationally be determened. The banal comment "who heals is right" should only be valid for the phytotherapy of the adenoma of the prostate gland if the treatment can be performed on a reasonable basis.
