Sauerstoff-Kohlensäure-Kombinationstherapie

Abstract: The closed CO2 gas bath treatment is a measure from the field of natural therapy which is harmless and effective to a large extent. lt is induced especially in the case of mild hypertonia, peripheral arterial occlusive vascular disease, vasoneurosis, coronary heart disease and degenerative joint diseases in the non-acute stage, psychovegetative syndromes and during recuperation. Strict contra-indications are not known, but some relative contra-indications should be taken into consideration. The physiological effects of the CO, gas bath treatment have been examined in detail and have been cleared up to a large extent. They mainly consist of sympathicolysis, vasodilation, decrease of the peripheral resistance, increase of the oxygen status, elimination of hypoxia-induced acidosis and sedation. Among the different CO2 applications which are possible (bath, open gas bath, closed gas bath) the closed gas bath has turned out to be very favorable, because the CO2 concentration is especially high at the site of action and especially low in the area of the head (respiration). The health insurance agencies pay for CO, gas baths and the therapeutic success is accepted.
