Abstract: Within the framework of a prospective, multicentric, non-controlled study, the efficacy and tolerability of an aquaretic therapy was investigated over a period of 12 weeks in 37 female and 18 male patients with hypertension and idiopathic oedemas and as an adjuvant in treatment of patients wich caridac isufficiency. Of the total patient collective, 30 hypertension patients with initial average values of 163,6 mmHg systolic and 93,6 mmHg diastolic benefited after 12 weeks of therapy with Asparagus P from a gentle average blood pressure drop of 9,6 mmHg systolic and 7,7 mmHg diastolic. 7 patients terminated their participation prematurely, 6 due to a lack of compliance. Subjective tolerance - the patients' well-being was not influenced - and the objective tolerance profile reflected in essential laboratory parameters such as lipids pattern, potassium, uric acid and magnesium document, demonstrate, in addition to efficacy in lowering blood pressure and volume reduction, therapeutic safety and harmlessness of longterm therapy with Asparagus P.
