Abstract: Clinic and practice are not in contrast to each other. The activities in a clinic as well as in a practice of a general practitioner only differ from each other by the conditions, under which the respective physicians work. They differ by the kind of problems which are encountered by the physicians during their respective work. They also differ by the methods which are used to solve the various problems which occur.This means, that in the practice of a general practitioner a methodology specifically suited for general medicine is necessary and does exist.This is presented with the help of 6 circles of problems and substantiated by the results of scientific studies.1 .The "real prevalence"2. The unusual is rare, common things occur often3 .Between subjectivity and objectivity4. In the practice early manifestations and in the clinic late manifestations of diseases prevail5. Chronic diseases need a chronic evaluation6. "Permanent subjectivity is also always objective"The individual methodological particularities which are specific for the practice are presented and explained, the chances but also weak points of practical research are shown. lt becomes obvious, that the main methodological problem is and remains the "head of the practitioner", whose brain has not yet realized, that his daily work routine is concrete science and that he does not have to hide his activities.
