Abstract: Infections of the upper respiratory tract (influenza-like syndrome, common' cold) are among the most frequent acute diseases at all. High costs are caused by the resulting unability to work and the necessary therapeutical measures. Mainstream medicine cannot offer a causal treatment, poor in side effects and economic at the same time. Against this background case reports, reviews, clinical studies, and results of basic research work are presented, where homoeopathic medicaments were applied As work on this subject was not curried out systematically, no reliable statement can be offered concerning both the effectiveness of the method and a model of working mechanism.
