Abstract: An observation of the use of a homeopathic complex preparation for the indication Dentitio difficilis was performed. Fourty-two patients (47% males and 50% females, no indication of sex for one child) with an average age of 15.9 months were examined over a mean treatment period of 39.3 days ± 27.8 days).In addition to their characteristic teething complaints, the young patients were frequently suffering from fever and diarrhea. The medication was administered as a prophylactic measure to 3 children.During the course of treatment an improvement of symptoms was observed even after the first week. Salivation decreased, reddening of the face was no longer described, sleep disturbances disappeared, diarrhea and fever likewise no longer appeared. The mothers were very satisfied with the treatment.The assessment by the doctor in charge of the treatment revealed the following distribution pattern: a very good result was obtained in 38% of the treated children, a good result in 45% and a satisfactory one in 14%. Two percent of the cases could not be assessed.Tolerability was judged as very good in 8 1 % and good in 14% of the cases.The administration of the homeopathic complex preparation revealed altogether very good to good results in infants with teething complaints. The therapeutic success was rated as satisfactory in only 14% of the cases. Tolerability was very good or good in all the cases meaning that the preparation can be considered an effective and safe medication for infants.
