Abstract: Due to the high energy supply for endurance performances the consumption of long-chain carbohydrates - especially as a porridge made of fresh grains - has become more and more important for years. The subject of the study was the question whether an especially composed breakfast in the form of porridge made of fresh cereals would be superior to a traditional, also standarized "normal" breakfast as regards endurance and reaction of definite chosen metabolic parameters. As a result it must be stated that food rich in carbohydrates is of advantage, the composition (full content or extract, short-chain or long-chain carbohydrates) being, however, of negligible effect as far as high-performance sports are concerned.
